Steve Fossett, wealthy and famous for many things including setting the record for highest speed in an aircraft was known as an incredible adventurist. He has also set many other records including the best time for an around the world flight. Even in an air balloon he has conquered this world record. Not only is he an extreme aviator, but also an incredible sailor and driver. He has accomplished many dangerous feats while behind the steering wheels of cars and boats. Then, on a calm morning this long time adventurer boarded his small airplane for a short flight from Nevada to California. But, this time things didn’t go as planned. The plane went down in Mammoth Lakes, California near the Sierra Nevada’s. This 63 year old man had been missing for over a year until a hiker came across a crashed plane and a grocery bag filled with ten- 100 dollar bills and three I.D. cards. This hiker took the bag to the authorities in the nearby town. The I.D. cards matched Mr. Steve Fossett’s Date of Birth, birthplace, and other physical descriptions. Although Steve Fossett was declared dead, at 63 years old on February 15, 2007 DNA tests are now being done on the human remains found inside the crashed plane.
